For The 100 Club RVA, 2022 was another successful year of supporting Richmond area law enforcement, firefighter, and emergency medical services professionals and their families.
Among the ways we provide support to our community's first responders is through our grant program. In 2022, The 100 Club RVA distributed $39,217 in grant funds. They were allocated as follows:
$2,217 to pay for the funeral of a fallen Chesterfield County firefighter
$2,000 to the Metro Richmond Flying Squad, a 501c3 that provides on-site support to responders when incidents require additional logistical supplies such as food and water·
$30,000 to Richmond Ambulance Authority for safety vests for its front line employees
$5,000 to assist with the medical bills of a Richmond Police Sergeant
One of our greatest accomplishments of 2022 was presenting the 32nd Annual Valor Awards. While The 100 Club RVA has a long history of supporting the Valor Awards, 2022 was the first year where The 100 Club was in charge of this event. We planned, managed, coordinated and executed this long-standing, community celebration. Sponsorships, attendance, and community engagement were as strong as ever. In fact, the sponsorship support was the highest in Valor Awards history!
At the December 1st event, 22 honorees from 11 different departments were recognized and given Valor Awards. The honorees represented Chesterfield County Police Department, Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office, Goochland County Fire & EMS, Henrico County Police Division, Richmond Fire and Emergency Services, Richmond Police Department and Virginia State Police.
At the Valor Awards, we also remembered two fallen area first responders. Their families attended the awards ceremony as our guests and received Valor coins to honor their loved ones.
We are so grateful to the area First Responders that help keep our community safe and to all of The 100 Club RVA members that allow us to show our support these men and women.
